Citrine Love: Take a look at these gorgeous makes!
For the launch of Citrine, I wanted to showcase the pattern in a number of different fabric, styles, and sizes, so I asked a few of my favorite makers to preview the pattern along with our pattern testers* who were interested to photograph their favorite versions.
I was really blown away with their gorgeous versions of this pattern - I couldn’t believe how many of thems had so much fun making their first Citrine that they went right ahead and made another one. It’s a real vote of confidence when someone makes multiple versions of a pattern, so I’m super excited to show you what they’ve made!

Leilani used the most delightful combination of stretch velvet, stretch vinyl, and jersey, to create these three versions of Citrine when she tested out the pattern. Just love these magical pics from Ambrosia @ambrosiakramer that showcase the beautiful Citrine cardigans that she made to help us celebrate the Citrine launch.
Ambrosia used a green cotton sweatshirt knit with matching rib knit to create this darted view A Citrine; View A has a fitted sleeve and straight hem, and a pink sweatshirting to create a darted view b with buttons - all of her fabrics were from @wearethefabricstore, and visit her Instagram feed if you want more details on the gorgeous dresses she’s wearing in these photos.
Ambrosia really hit it out of the park with these lovely Citrines!
Kten’s lovely pale grey Citrine proves that this pattern can span multiple seasons. I love how she’s styled it here over a tank top and jeans. If you live in a warmer spot, using thinner knits for Citrine can provide a perfect layering piece.
Kten tested the pattern for us in multiple fabrics as i made tweaks to it 😬 and her final version was this one, which is View A of the pattern in a lightweight rayon blend knit.

When I asked Tiffany @tiffany_makes to preview Citrine for the launch, I was so thrilled when she not only said yes but sent me the fabric she had in mind - this gorgeous abstract floral print, a sweater knit called “Blossom Rust” from @nickoftimefabric.
I just love this Citrine - she made view b of the pattern - which Tiffany is wearing here in this beautiful outfit along with this fun Peppermint Magazine pocket skirt (love those rotated stripe pockets)…honestly her entire ensemble is giving me major wardrobe envy. This is some serious stripe-print coordination genius!!
Next up, our awesome pattern tester, Emi, with another stunning version of Citrine to get you inspired to sew! Emiko created this lovely burgundy-red version using view b of the pattern with buttons (Citrine can be made with or without).

These beautiful Citrines by Jessica @jessicawaldegar fit so beautifully into her cozy wardrobe of handmades, which includes her favorite Rose pants. I intentionally design new patterns to coordinate with my other designs, and Citrine is no exception - I wanted a layering piece that could work well with high-waisted styles as well as dress like Trillium and Emerald.
I’ve been following Jessica for many years - she’s also tested patterns for us - and she always creates such gorgeous handmade garments so I was really excited to see what she would make with Citrine.
She made a buttoned view b version in a beautiful green tencel knit fabric (Hudson Tencel from Ewe fibers) and a combo of view a & b in a lovely rust red sweater knit that she had in her stash from Stylemaker (similar to this one).
Take a look at Romy’s (@sewlike) fun colorblocked Citrine cardigans! She made both using a combo of view a (fitted sleeve) and view b (gathered waist) using some genius fabric combos that really make this pattern shine. Love this inspo for how to use those smaller knit pieces or scraps you may have lying around!
I was surprised to discover that knit sewing has been Romy’s nemesis for some time - and yet, as she notes in her post on Instagram - this pattern may possibly have converted her?? You can decide for yourself; read her thoughts over at her post 👉🏼@sewlike
And last - but certainly not least - I wanted to include Amy’s Citrine in this round up as well! Amy @modernpearlco is a local maker and friend here in Ann Arbor and she has been an absolutely essential part of the pattern testing process for me over the past year. She’s come into the studio for fittings to help me fine-tune pattern pieces, and of course has sewn a number of glorious versions of her own to help me test the patterns - like this black french terry Citrine shown here with her squid and whale Cleo skirt (both fabrics from Seams Fabric & Mercantile).

*Since I restarted our tester program last year after a few year hiatus (pandemic), I’ve been trying to disconnect the work of testing a pattern from the work of photographing/promoting a pattern - I want to take the pressure off of testers so they can enjoy the testing process without having to worry about having to do additional photography or modeling work at the end (unless they want to!). Honestly I’m not sure I’ve found the correct balance here — some testers really want to be part of the promotion, too? But for what it’s worth, I do compensate testers who are interested a bit extra for promo photos, so hopefully that makes that extra work worthwhile!!!
